Major Russian Strikes Cut Power In Kyiv

Ukraine's power facilities have come under increased attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while residents in eastern districts were left without electricity and dealt with problems to water systems, as stated by city officials.

At the same time, a young boy was lost their life in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has intensified strikes on electrical systems over the past few days, while the country's government has requested "real steps" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and applying restrictions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen rockets struck the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A wave of strikes damaged energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the assaults on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by city authorities.

Local officials said the city experienced heavy assaults throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child was killed and three other people were hurt.

The strikes follow periods of air raids in the area, parts of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to detect.

Government officials told journalists that Moscow was intentionally trying to destroy the national power system, with attacks already affecting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were bracing for additional strikes.
